- Q? I have a full time job, how can I add direct sales?

- A.Most people who begin in direct sales don’t start full time. Jim Rohn states that direct sales are a 1-3-5-7 plan.
Let me explain. The first year, you will break even, the 3rd year,
you will be able to quit your current job, the 5th year you will be
making more than you ever could have with your corporate job, and the
7th year you will be an industry legend. Now this is in a typical direct
sales company. We are experiencing much faster growth with Rodan &
Fields©.
The reps that I have encountered that work full time and really want a
replacement income set up a very strategic schedule in order to put a
couple of hours a day into Rodan & Fields©. While driving to work,
make phone calls, instead of eating lunch with co-workers, eat lunch
with a prospect to present the business or products.
If there is no one to have lunch with that day then eat in your car
and make phone calls. Make follow up calls on the drive home and
finally, maybe listen to a webinar or two later in the evening before
bed instead of watching TV. It all depends on how bad you want it to
work for you.

- Q? Is this a pyramid scheme?

A.The term pyramid scheme is usually used out of a misunderstanding of direct sales.
If you look at the structure of any family tree or corporate America
organization it is the shape of a “pyramid”. Your family started with
two people and as the family has grown there are more and more people
has the generations grow. Hence, the shape of a pyramid. Corporate
America, to me personally, is a true “pyramid scheme”. Starting at the
top you have your CEO’s, CFO’s, COO’s etc, then you have your regional
sales managers, then your area sales managers, then your branch/ store
manager, then finally you have your reps, or sales clerks etc, in other
words, your hard working individuals that are what keeps the company
running.
The problem with this model is that the people that keep the company
running, the majority of the employees, that make the least amount of
money, will never be able to make more then those very few people at the
top. In direct sales, everyone comes in on a level playing ground. It
doesn’t matter how much you spend to start your franchise, we all have
the same potential to make as much or a little as we want. It doesn’t
matter your background, your strengths, or your weaknesses, you can make
more money than the person that brought you in, or the person at the
top.
There is no limit to the potential of what can be accomplished with
direct sales and no boss telling you what you have to do. We teach you
to be successful and the rest is up to you!
The real definition of a ‘pyramid scheme’ is where no product or
services exchange hands and only money is asked to be traded and these
are illegal. Any legit direct sales company is a member of the DSA,
Direct Selling Association, and the government watchdog for any MLM. If a
company approaches you and they are not a member of the DSA, then run
the other way.

- Q? I don’t have the time to do all of this.

- A.We LOVE busy people!
Busy people can multi task and get things done! When I first began in
direct sales, I was a stay at home mom, home schooling my 3 older kids,
had a new born and a toddler, had two children in AAU baseball on two
separate teams, a son in competitive gymnastics twice a week, and a
husband that worked full time!
The last thing I needed was to add something else to my plate, but I
had a ‘reason why’. I wanted to help my husband with some of the
financial stress we were experiencing and I wanted to move back to
Florida. Someone once told me, “if your why is big enough, you will
figure out the how.” That quote always stuck with me.

- Q? Does Direct Sales really work?

- A.Direct Sales is one of the most
highly successful proven business models. Warren Buffet, Robert
Kiyosocki, Donald Trump, and many other successful business minds back
it. It goes back to the pioneer days when a man would go and buy
household goods from a company in bulk. He would then load his wagon and
travel door to door selling the goods at a profit. He was able to do
this because the company didn’t have to mark up their products ship to
and sell in a storefront.
Direct Sales is cutting out the middleman. So instead of the doctors
paying Estee Lauder, Nordstrom, the girl behind the counter, or for
advertising, they are instead giving independent consultants the
profits. So as a whole, yes direct sales works. Will it work for you?
That is all up to your efforts in the business. This is not get rich
quick. It takes consistent effort on your part in order to be
successful. Will you be a millionaire in six months? No. But you have
the potential to pack a 30-50 year career into a 3-7 year plan.
We are here to give you all the tools you need to be successful but
we can’t do it for you. We run as fast or as slow as you want. You are
in business for yourself but not by yourself.
The only way it won’t work at all for you is if you quit. If it’s up
to me, I won’t let you quit. We will work thorough any difficulties and
carry on until you have achieved your goals!
- Q? I’m not a salesperson, how can I do this?

- A.The good news is that you don’t
have to be! Eric was the guy that sold mortgages to complete strangers
over the phone. They would give him their most valuable financial
information but Christie; well she couldn’t sell socks at the GAP! When
Christie was young she worked at the GAP, mainly for the discount. But
when they would put her at the register they expected her to add on
socks to the sale. She thought, “no way! That is too pushy if they want
socks they will ask for them!” But then she realized that as humans we
‘sell’ every day of our lives.
If someone asks us where we got our hair done, our cute shoes, who
did our taxes, or where you bought your car, we sell them on where we
purchased these items. I wish I had a dime for every time I turned
someone on to Crossfit or the Paelo diet, but I don’t. But I can get
paid for every time someone wants to learn about my new business or why
my skin is almost flawless. That is the power of your words!

- Q? I don’t know anybody who would be interested.

- A.Sure you do!
Studies have shown that by time we are 30 years old we have come in
contact with more than 2000 people that we can say we have had some sort
of relationship with. That sounds like a small number to me. With
social media we can connect with individuals now in a way we never could
before. It’s not always whom you know but who they know!
I have many customers and consultants that were referred to me by
someone else. Once you sit down and put your mind to it you will see
just how many people you do know. I will be honest, it’s not usually
those closest to you that will join you in business or even buy products
from you. It’s the ones that you least expect to that will jump on
board.

- Q? My friends can’t afford to buy products

A.You underestimate your friends.
Our regimens average $3.00 a day. Is $3.00 a day too much to spend on their skin?
If changing a skin problem is important enough then they will cut out
their coffee run and start making coffee at home. During the great
depression there was something called the lipstick effect. Not only did
the beauty industry survive those horrible times but also it thrived!
Only two other industries thrived during the great depression, they were both illegal so we won’t go into that
. Our main piece of real estate is our face. Many customers have no
desire to join me in business, and are out there worried about getting
downsized.
When you are in your mid 30’s and end up competing with a young 20
something out of college that will work for pennies on the dollar, you
are doing everything you can to look younger. It’s the first thing
someone notices when they meet you. It is important to take care of it
with a quality product.
Trust me when I say, your friends have spent much more on product
then they care to talk about. Just look at their drawers full of drug
store or department store products that promised the moon and didn’t
deliver. It’s their product graveyard. Products they tried, didn’t work,

- Q? How long will it take for me to make money?

A.We have a plan to get your initial investment back in your first 30-60 days.
You will obviously make more money buy bringing on business partners
and growing a team of other product sales people and team builders. In
order to build a residual income you must have a good mix of both
business partners and product sales.
Most direct sales companies use “signing people up” to drive sales
companies’ profits. Although we have some nice bonuses for bringing on
business partners, we are one of the only direct sales companies whose
profits are driven by our customers. We have more customers than
consultants. That says volumes for our product. So whether you want to
work part time or full time, we can begin making you money the first day
you decide to join us. It depends on quickly you want to run.

- Q? Why would these products not be sold on TV?

A.When the doctors first created Proactiv, it was cutting edge.
No one was using multi med therapy to treat acne. It was a
spot-treating world full of $2 tubes of cream. Dr. Rodan and Dr. Fields
were about to revolutionize the acne market when one company told them
that it wouldn’t work in the traditional sales arena so they should try
doing an infomercial.
Newly practicing dermatologists fresh out of medical school needed
someone to back their product and market it. In comes the infomercial.
They knew it was a risk because infomercials were, for lack of a better
word, “cheesy”. They set out not only to change the way people treated
acne but also to change the way the world viewed infomercials.
Well, they did both. Now they are changing the way people perceive
direct sales. They don’t want to pay another company to put their
products on TV. Nor do they want to pay celebrities whose lives they
have changed. They want to empower us, the consumer, to have financial
freedom on our own terms.
Dr. Rodan always talks about her dad. A very successful retired
judge, he says, “Be your own boss and make your own money.” I would say
his daughter listened. Not only do both doctors still practice medicine
today in California, but also they transformed the way the world treats
acne. They could have called it quits and be sitting on a beach
somewhere but they have a desire to change people’s lives by not only
changing their skin but also allowing us to partner with them in
business.
